Great Neck Water Pollution Control District, NY: Implementing Cityworks PLL to Streamline Workflows

Great Neck Water Pollution Control District, New York, has been using Cityworks AMS for 10 years. Recently, they also implemented Cityworks PLL to digitize their permitting process. Cityworks PLL has allowed them to centralize their permitting workflows; streamline communication between the city, contractors, and applicants; and more effectively manage budget and financial data. Users can easily view applications, input hours, and print reports through Cityworks PLL.

“Using a system built for permitting is more user-friendly, provides higher functionality, and creates opportunities for meaningful analysis,” notes Michael Robbins, GIS specialist for Great Neck Water Pollution Control District, when speaking about the organization’s experience with adopting Cityworks PLL.

Citywork PLL has also cut down the time it takes to process and issue refunds by consolidating the budgeting process—which originally passed through multiple departments. “We can process refunds much quicker than before, because we are no longer delayed by an external accounts billable department,” says Robbins. In addition to that, the District has implemented Microsoft Power BI to further track and report on metrics including the average time it takes to complete plan reviews, site inspections, regulatory compliance reports, etc. They also keep track of the amount of cases that are submitted on a monthly basis.
